Decision Making?
Which of the eight steps in the decision-making model could be eliminated if a decision to be made quickly? Is this model more appropriate for individual or group decision making and why? Serious reponses please. 1. Be alert to indicators and symptoms of problems. 2. Tentatively define the problem. 3. Collect facts and redefine the problem if necessary. 4. Identify possible alternatives. 5. Gather and organize facts. 6. Evaluate possible alternatives. 7. Choose and implement the best alternative. 8. Follow up.

- 2-tentative anything is not necessary 3 and 5 are the same- getting facts together 4 and 6 are the same- discussing alternatives 8- should be redefined as a review, and a time frame should be specified (ie, review of procedures in 90 days)
- Where's the Sense of urgency?. The building is on fire! By the time you do # 1 thru #6, you just died of burns. You can define, collect facts, etc etc etc all you want, but if you take too long, the situation will have deteriorated so badly that NO decion will do any good.
- other steps apart from the following can be eliminated !!Identify the problem, Evaluate possible alternatives. Choose and implement the best alternative. Follow up.
